Job Description

Reaching for the Arts is looking for multiple committed Strings Teachers to complement our qualified workforce of educators. You will be responsible for preparing and implementing 1:1 lessons with beginning and intermediate strings students ages 10-15. Lessons will be held online or at a designated location by the instructor. Instructors will be responsible for coordinating times and locations with students, weekly for one hour. It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction of strings technique and music theory to students while also fostering their passions in the arts and preparing them for high school auditions. The ideal candidate will be passionate for supporting underserved communities with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust. The goal is to help cultivate the students’ interest in music education and be their ally in creating arts equity for all.

Responsibilities

• Present lessons in a comprehensive manner and use visual/audio means to facilitate learning (either online or in-person)

• Provide individualized instruction to each student

• Assess and record students’ progress

• Prepare students for 2 performances a year

• Prepare students for the high school audition process

• Collaborate with students, and parents

Skills

• Proven experience as a strings performer or as a strings teacher

• Thorough knowledge of vocal technique and best practices

• Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills

• Well-organized and committed

• Creative and energetic

• Preferred: Degree in teaching or in a performance art

Job Type: Contractor

Salary: $25.00 to $40.00 /hour based on qualifications and experience
